Hanekom wedding 2016
The Hanekom Wedding
My husband and i got married 01 October 2016 in Gordon's bay. The obvious love i have for event planning, i decided to plan my entire wedding myself. From making every little bit of decor myself too. Taking on a lot and still remembering to be a bride, this was challenging.
We hired a hall in our home town, and decorated it to i would say perfection. We kept it simple, as the budget was tight, but created our perfect wedding (to us at least).
I made my own wedding invites, printing the pages and using paper doilies as the fold over & envelope. My favorite colour is turquoise so that was the obvious colour decor we went with.
We made lovely "Stick" center pieces and painted coffee tin's turquoise. We sprayed the sticks, taken from my moms pepper tree white and covered it in glitter. We bought battery fairy lights and entangled them on them to light up at night. We also got some glass beads to hang on the sticks.
I painted pegs turquoise and wrote the guests name on them and clipped them on to the champagne glasses as the place settings.
As favors we planted small vetplants into small little pots and used old sushi sticks and printed a Thank you note on there with each couples names on it for them to take home and remember our special day. We also covered match boxes with sweet messages like "match made in heaven".
I Laminated thank you book marks and added a turquoise ribbon on that too as another Thank you. We also used doilies as the place mats instead of hiring underplates, as when having a large wedding - This can become a huge expense.
This is only some of the self-made decor we did and it was also so fun getting all our close friends around to create all these wonderful things.
In a nutshell, there is so much you can do with a small budget to make amazing decor with your own personal touch.
I know, from first hand experience there isn't always time to create this and that is why i would love to help you!
